Reindeer Cake

Bake any flavor layer cake mix in baking pan, 13x9x2 inches, as directed on package. Remove from pan and cool. Toast 1 cup flaked coconut in shallow baking pan in 350 degrees F oven, stirring frequently, until golden brown, about 5 minutes. Cut cake as shown in diagram. Arrange cake and pieces (ears) to form reindeer on aluminum foil-covered cardboard, 24x22 inches.

Prepare 1 package (7.2 ounces) fluffy white frosting mix as directed on package. Frost sides and top of cake, joining pieces together. Sprinkle toasted coconut over reindeer. Use large chocolate wafers for eyes, red gumdrop for nose, red shoestring licorice for mouth and antlers.

Christmas Tree Cake

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour baking pan, 13x9x2 inches. Prepare 1 package (18.5 ounces) white or yellow cake mix with pudding as directed on package; pour into pan. Sprinkle batter with 2 tablespoons green sugar and 2 tablespoons multicolored nonpareils. Cut through batter with spatula to swirl, Bake as directed. Remove from pan; cool.

Cover large tray or piece of cardboard with aluminum foil or foil wrapping paper. Cut cake as shown in diagram. Prepare I package (7.2 ounces) fluffywhite frosting mix asdirected on package. Tint with I or 2 drops green food color. Arrange cake pieces A and B on tray to make tree shape (see diagram); frost. Place piece Con top; frost sides and top, making strokes through frosting to resemble tree branches.

Sprinkle cake with green sugar. Decorate with cut-up gumdrops. Insert 3 peppermint candy sticks in end of cake to make trunk.

Peppermint Bell Cake

Prepare your favorite white or yellow layer cake exceptfold 1/3cup crushed peppermint candy into batter. Bake in 2 round layer pans, 8 or 9~I/2 inches, as directed. Fill and frost cake with 1 package (7.2 ounces) fluffy white frosting mix prepared as directed on package.

Coat side of cake with 1/2 to cup crushed peppermint candy, reserving 3 tablespoons for decoration. Draw outline of bells on top of cake or use cookie cutter. Outline bells using wooden pick dipped into red food color. Fill bells with reserved candy. Add Gumdrop Holly (below) and red cinnamon candies.

GUMDROP HOLLY
Roll green gumdrops about 1/8 inch thick on heavily sugared board; cut to resemble holly leaves.

Christmas Snow Cake

Bake your favorite 8- or 9-inch layer cake. Cool. Prepare I package (7.2 ounces) fluffy white frosting mix as directed on package exceptstir in teaspoon almond extract. Fill and frost cake; sprinkle with flaked coconut.

Cut a paper circle the size of layer pan bottom, Draw a Christmas tree in center of paper; cut out tree. Place paper circle on cake. Sprinkle Tinted Coconut (below) in cutout area of circle. Fill base of tree with shaved chocolate. Remove circle. Decorate tree with red cinnamon candies. Roll red gumdrop on granulated sugar until flat; cut star for top of tree.

TINTED COCONUT
Mix 1 to 2 drops green food color and teaspoon water. Place cup flaked coconut and the food color mixture in tightly covered jar; shake until coconut is evenly tinted.

Note: For a Christmas birthday cake, insert small red candles in ring-shaped hard candies; press on tree branches.

Snowman Cake

Grease and flour one 8-and one 9-inch round layer pan. Prepare any flavor layer cake mix as directed on package exceptdivide batter between pans (batter in pans should be same level). Bake as directed. Cool.

Prepare I package (7.2 ounces) fluffy white frosting mix as directed on package. Cover large tray or piece of cardboard with aluminum foil or foil wrapping paper. Arrange 8-inch layer for bead of snowman and 9- inch layer for body on foil-covered tray. Frost layers, joining them together.

Sprinkle with flaked coconut. Use semisweet chocolate chips for buttons, large gumdrops for eyes and nose and red shoestring licorice for mouth and muffler. Place large chocolate wafer cookies on each side of head for earmuffs.

Drum Cake

Bake your favorite 8- or 9-inch layer cake. Cool. Prepare 1 package (7.2 ounces) fluffy white frosting mix as directed on package. Tint with red food color if desired. Fill and frost cake.

Press striped peppermint candy sticks at angles into frosting around side of cake. Place a maraschino cherry at ends of sticks. Cross 2 candy sticks on top of cake for drumsticks if desired.
